China or to Have Electricity Access Throughout the Country
On the Chinese government work report submitted to the third meeting of the 12th session of the NPC on March 5, new rural construction will benefit the majority of farmers and the last batch of 200,000 people without electricity access will be able to use electricity in 2015. That means China will probably have electricity access throughout the country.
It is learned that most population without electricity access are distributed in remote areas in West China, such as Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu and Tibet. Due to vast land, scattered habitats, poor natural condition and rough economic situation, the project needs a lot of investment and is difficult to construct. At the same time, its economic benefit is weak and the power consumption problem is not that easy to solve.
In the last two years, China tried to bring electricity to non-electrified areas by expanding the big grid and developing distributed new energies according to local circumstances. Great progress has been achieved. Currently, all people in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang now have electricity access in originally non-electrified areas. Residents in non-electrified areas of Tibet are all provided with basic living power consumption.
"Though 200,000 people are just a tiny proportion of the national population, it is of epoch-making significance to farmers and herdsmen in remote areas," said Pei Chunliang, NPC deputy and Secretary of Pei Stockade, Zhangcun County, Huixian City, Henan Province. China has a vast land. It's not easy to bring electricity to all the people. It demonstrates the strong commitment of the party and the government to improve people’s livelihood. (by Yu Jiaxin)
